Consulting for child care and youth programs licensed through DCYF
Minnesota's Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) now oversees licensing for child care centers, family child care, and child foster care, work that used to sit with DHS. We help programs get licensed, pass inspections, and keep policies, staff, and records in order.

Frequently asked questions
Who licenses child care in Minnesota now?
Child care licensing has moved from DHS to the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Family child care is generally licensed through county agencies under state rules.
Do the rules change with the move to DCYF?
The move changes which agency oversees licensing. Rules can also change over time, so we track updates and let you know what affects your program.
Do you only work with child care?
No. MBMC supports DCYF, DHS, and MDH-licensed providers, so agencies with more than one license can work with one partner.
