Stay in good standing long after year one

Forming a nonprofit is the start, not the finish. We help you keep up with annual filings, maintain strong governance policies, and avoid the gaps that put tax-exempt status at risk.

Working alongside your attorney and accountant

MBMC is not a law firm or CPA firm. We keep you organized and on schedule, and coordinate with your attorney or accountant for legal and tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if we don't file a Form 990?

The IRS automatically revokes tax-exempt status when an organization fails to file for three consecutive years. Staying on schedule protects your status.

Do Minnesota nonprofits have to file anything every year?

Yes. Minnesota nonprofit corporations file an annual renewal with the Secretary of State, and many charities must also file an annual report with the Attorney General's Office. We help you confirm which apply to you.

Which policies should every nonprofit have?

Most nonprofits benefit from conflict of interest, whistleblower, and document retention policies at a minimum. The IRS Form 990 asks whether you have them.
